FOOTBALL PRODIGIES GIVEN CASH BOOST

More than 250 youngsters at Bedlington Town Football Club are being helped on the road to glory after securing the backing of a major north east firm.

Community regeneration specialist Frank Haslam Milan (FHM) North East has shown its support for the club by donating cash to buy new strips and help attract coaches and players.

Despite only being formed in July last year, Bedlington Town FC already boasts six girls teams and six boys teams – ranging from under seven to under 16 level.

Bedlington Town FC Club Chairman Ken Montgomery said: “We greatly appreciate the support of Frank Haslam Milan and hope this association will help raise the profile of the club.

“The club aims to give children from the local area an opportunity to enjoy being part of a football club which develops their technique, skills and fitness in a safe and positive environment.”

The club has also stated its commitment to supporting the local community, and hosts regular events for more youngsters who play for its teams and their families.

Following the recent launch of the clubs ‘schools links project’, Bedlington Town FC has seen a massive take-up of its Soccer Academy and more so the Tots section with over eighty children aged between four and five now involved in a structured weekly coaching programme.

FHM North East has carried out a number of major regeneration projects in the Northumberland area on behalf of Wansbeck Homes.  The works include carrying out the refurbishment of existing stock and the demolishing and rebuilding of Airey properties in Bedlington.

The company said it was proud to be supporting the team and praised its work to support the local community.

Heather Miller, Lead Resident Liaison Officer from FHM North East said: “This is an excellent club that wants to play a pivotal role in the local community.

“The club understands that it can have a positive impact both on and off the football pitch.

“We’re more than happy to show our support for this club.”
