Welcome to the Bedlington Town Wildcats pages. The Wildcats have now been together as a team for the last 4 years playing 7-side football in the Northumberland Girls Football League, however most of the girls have been coached since they were 5/6 years of age and their experience and knowledge of the game shows when they play.

This season 2011/12 the Wildcats will be playing a year above themselves at U13's and as a 9-side squad - GO WILDCATS!!!

This seasons first four Fixtures are as follows, note some fixtures are scheduled for a Wednesday evening:

Wildcats Match Reports 2011/12

Bedlington Town Tigers 1 v Bedlington Town Wildcats 9

11th February 2012            Match day reporter - Jim Jones

We woke this morning to a cold but frost free day, and the good news that we had a Wildcats game to watch for only the second time this year. The Bedlington Town derby between the Tigers and the Wildcats was moved to The Hartlands as the grass was longer than the pitch at the High School and this enabled the game to go ahead.

We have known the Tigers since the formation of Wildcats, but this was to be the first competitive game between the teams although some of the previous training encounters had seen the Tigers coming out on top; that was two years ago however and we were ready to make the most of the chance to close the gap at the top of the league and both Monty Pumas and North Shields games were cancelled.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 4 v North Shields 6

7 January 2012 Match day reporter - Jim Jones

It seems like a lot more than four weeks since we last played, but after a postponed game and the holiday period, we were at home to North Shields in the league. Shields are arguably the best team in the league, and we had a great game against them at the start of the season which ended four goals each (We were awarded the game 1 - 0 because of an admin error)

Bedlington Town Wildcats 5 v Montagu & North Fenham Jaguars 2

10 December 2011 Match day reporter - Jim Jones

For the second week running, we were up against the Jaguars on our home pitch. We notched up a good win against today's opponents in the cup last week, but they were able to field a stronger team this week and we could not take anything for granted. Monty Jags are a big strong set of girls who would be able to steamroller a lot of teams in our league, but last week proved that we are the better footballing side and we would need to outplay them rather than out muscle them again.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 4 v Montagu & North Fenham Jaguars 1

3 December 2011      Match day reporter -  Jim Jones

It was cup Saturday for the Wildcats and with the top four teams in the league having been drawn against each other, we knew that we were in for a hard game against the Jaguars, for a place in  the last four of the competition. We had yet to meet today's opponents so far this season, but would be seeing quite a bit of them in the next two weeks as we face them at home again on 10th December in a league match.

Wallsend Boys Club Girls 0 - Bedlington Town Wildcats 8

26 November 2011 Match day reporter - Jim Jones

It could be argued that there is nothing better than a trip along the Coast Road to watch the Wildcats play on a sunny, if windy Saturday. Wallsend were the first team we played at The Hartlands way back in September on a day when it was blowing a gale, and we put eleven goals past them without reply, but they have won three games since that date and scored twenty goals, so it might not be so easy this time. The game also marks the half way point in the season, it being our tenth game of the twenty game league schedule.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 11 v Cramlington Town 2

19 November 2011          Match day reporter - Jim Jones

Today's opponents, Cramlington Town, were the first team we played in the Under 13s and we had very little idea just how we were going to perform against older girls at that time; we have a far better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the league now and can be pleased with the way our girls have performed.  We won well at Cramlington to get the season underway, and were pleased to welcome them back to our place on a mild November morning with a bright sun low in the sky.

Morpeth 0 v Bedlington Town Wildcats 12

12 November 2011           Match day reporter - Jim Jones

After our convincing win last week, we were up against the same opponents again , this time at their ground. It was a bright sunny morning with little or no breeze but overnight rain had left the pitch soft and the grass wet. The grass was also very long so the ball would be held up on the surface and we would need to strike the ball well and to play it to feet if we were to overcome this problem.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 12 v Morpeth 0

5 November 2011 Match day reporter - Jim Jones

It seemed like a long time since we last played, following the cancellation of games against Ashington and Montagu Jaguars, but here we were on Guy Fawkes day looking to the Wildcats to produce some fireworks on a new home pitch at Bedlington High School and against new opponents in Morpeth.

Cramlington United 3 v Bedlington Town Wildcats 9

15 October 2011 Match day reporter - Jim Jones

Wildcats were back in league action today after last week's 13 - 0 cup victory against Alnwick. Because we were not in league action last week, we had slipped down the league to fourth place but with a game in hand over Ashington Angels who leapfrogged us last Saturday (up to date league table is at the end of this report); today's game took on more importance as Cramlington are one of the teams we need to beat if we are to maintain our push towards the top. We have never played against Cramlington United, nor had we played at their home ground so it was a day of firsts for our girls.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 22 v Alnwick 0

24 September 2011                    Match day reporter - Jim Jones

We were back at The Hartlands today after the away game in mid week against North Shields (which we were awarded with a score of 1 - 0 due to an administrative error by our opponents) and with an almost perfect day for football, we prepared for our first game against the recently formed Alnwick girls.

North Shields 4 v Bedlington Town Wildcats 4 (Game awarded to Wildcats due to an administrative error by our opponents)

20 September 2011 Match day reporter - Jim Jones

After the disappointment of the Pumas game, we were back in action three days later against a North Shields side which had won their under 12s league the previous season, winning all of their games into the bargain. So far this season North Shields had scored 48 goals in their three games and had conceded none, so it would be a good test for our girls on a pleasant evening with little or no wind and ideal footballing conditions.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 3 v Montagu & North Fenham Pumas 7

17 September 2011                      Match day reporter - Jim Jones

After two really good results played in very windy conditions, we came to the first real test of the season against Montagu Pumas who had won both of their previous games with only one goal scored against them. Montagu were a big strong group of girls who looked comfortable on the ball in warm up, so we would need to match them in all departments if we were to get anything from the game.

Bedlington Town Wildcats 11 v Wallsend Boys Club Girls 0

13 September 2011                     Match day reporter - Jim Jones

On a Tuesday evening with a threatening sky and the tail end of a hurricane blowing across the Hartlands pitch, Bedlington Town Wildcats had a full squad available for the second game of the season against Wallsend Boys Club Girls under 13s.

Cramlington Town 0 v Bedlington Town Wildcats 6

10 September 2011 Match day reporter Jim Jones

At long last, we have come to the start of the football season for the Wildcats and what a season it promises to be. We are one of 11 teams making up the Northumberland Girls Football under 13s league, and will be playing against girls a year older than ourselves
